There are many sizes, and choosing the best size can be difficult. We’ve compiled the below information to help make it easier to choose the best instrument for you. Violin Sizing
What Size violin Do I Need? Correct sizing of violins is important to ensure comfortable playing for young strings players. Like shoes, it’s important to choose the correct sized instrument. Use our table below to help select the right sized instrument. Violins are available in fractional sizes (1/4, /1/2, 3/4, etc)
To measure; With the arm outstretched and parallel to the ground, measure from the neck to the middle of the palm.

Viola Sizing
Like Violins, Viola sizing is important to ensure correct posture, and support of the instrument to provide a comfortable playing experience. Using the same technique, measure from the neck the middle of the palm for appropriate sizing for violas. Violas are sized in Inches, rather than fractional sizing.

Cello Sizing
Cello sizing is different to violins and violas. The overall height is best used to indicate the best sizing for a cello. Use the guide below to help choose the best sized Cello for you

Double Bass Sizing
As with Cello, Double Bass size is best based on overall height. Use the below table to help determine the best size. Â It is important, with larger instruments, that you play the size that is most comfortable for you. Many Adults play 3/4 sized Double Bass. Use the guide below to help choose the correct sized Double Bass for you
